It all started here in False Creek in the 1960’s. The original JIB SET (a school as well as a club) built a set of standards and a training program that was later adopted nationally and licensed internationally to create other similar programs.
Many of us delight in our role as an instructor and find it a very rewarding activity. Perhaps you’d feel the same?
We’ve hosted many CYA/Sail Canada instructor clinics and have found that the local experts minting new instructors do a fantastic job and we add our own experiences as we draw from helping local skippers of both charter and private yachts.
To enter an instructor program today, you should have plenty of experience as a skipper, Basic, Intermediate and Basic Navigation ahead of time. More than anything, you should love working with people and have a desire to share what you know. The instructor’s course itself is both challenging and a very rewarding program in and of itself.
We’d love for you to join us.
