Don't End up Lost at Sea
never a great feeling to be lost
we’ll introduce you to proper techniques for navigation and pilotage within the sight of land
they’re called charts – not maps – and we’ll wander through what all those markings are on them, how to plot tracks, use the accompanying publications
you’ll be plotting fixes, finding out when you’ll get there – and when to leave to make it through the passes at the best times
yup – we know the electronic gadgetry might help, but it could also fail, so learn how to do it without all the extra gizmos and you’ll be so much better off long run
this is a HANDS ON approach and you will need some low tech gizmos to go with the traditional, proper approach covered

Getting Down to Details
What you Need to Bring
you will need to have a chart 3463 (georgia strait southern portion), chart one, parallel rule, dividers, tide tables and most students bring a pocket calculator or smart phone with this capability – we have any and all of this (except the electronic stuff, which we likely dropped in the water) available through the office – open daily
GRANVILLE ISLAND’S parking restrictions are 7am to 7pm, so people arriving after 4pm will be able to park in the 3 hour spaces for their entire session
can’t make this schedule – inquire about our home study format through the office
