Basic Day Sailing-Saturday

Designed for the beginner with little or no knowledge of sailing, this course, leading to CYA certification, provides you with the essential skills to charter a boat on your own.

This introductory course teaches seamanship, safety and small vessel handling under sail and power. Learn crew overboard techniques, anchoring and fundamental navigation skills. Taught in three evening lectures and three days on-the-water practical lessons plus a fourth night in the classroom to complete the CYA Basic Cruising exam as well as the Pleasure Craft Operators Card exam.

Successful students will receive the Canadian Yachting Association Basic Cruising certification as well as the Pleasure Craft Operators Card.

Students will be writing two exams at the end of the program in order to complete the certification process.

Format:
Total of four weeks - Three evening lectures from 630pm - 930pm (once a week) and during the same week there will be three Saturdays from 9am - 5pm. The fourth week night lecture will be for the exam.
